Case study · MacPaw
Built the data and analytics function from zero — and used it to back a major launch.
I built the analytics function from nothing at a consumer software company, then started the MarTech team it grew into.
Set up the company's reporting, grew the team from 1 to 10, and used the numbers to back a major subscription launch.

Context
A consumer Mac software company about to launch a subscription service in a market used to one-time purchases. There was no analytics function and no habit of testing — the bet needed both.
The problem
Stand up the whole data function — the systems, the reporting, and the team — and use numbers to pressure-test the launch before spending big.
What I did
- Designed and shipped the company's internal reporting platform
- Built the marketing-analytics function, with both analysis and data-science sides
- Grew the team from 1 to 10
- Modeled the launch economics and ran a steady stream of tests
Results
- Handled huge volumes of data across five products and millions of users
- The subscription service launched with the numbers to back it
- The analytics team became a permanent part of the company
- Regular testing became a standard across the product org
